RARE! Vintage Aspen Colorado Skiing Company Ski Lift Chair "Ruthie's Run"
The original Ruthie's Run Double Chair Ski Lift operated from 1963 - 1997.
This listing is for original Lift Chairs #20 and #21, SOLD SEPARATELY. Note quantity of 2 available. When placing your order, please state which number lift chair (#20 or #21) is your preference, and I will make every effort to fulfill your preference.
Chair dimensions: Width is 41 5/8 inches. Depth is 26 inches. Height is 36 1/2 inches (including center pole is 82 inches).
These original "Ruthie's Run" ski lift chairs were converted into benches by the Aspen Skiing Company in 1997 when the Ruthie's Run lift was replaced with a high speed POMA, and then the ski co sold the lift chairs/benches to a few lucky buyers.
The chairs listed here were purchased directly from the Aspen Skiing Company and placed on an 11+ acre Aspen estate where they were lovingly used until the estate property sold in September 2020. At that time, the chair lifts were shipped to Dallas where they remain stored in a temperature-controlled warehouse along with the balance of the estate property's furnishings, antiques, rugs, etc. and are being sold via Design District North Estate Sale.
For value comparison, chairs listed as "Aspen Snowmass Big Burn" lift chairs are priced from 95-95 from other sellers and retailers, but those chairs are not from Aspen. Big Burn ski run is on Snowmass Mountain in Snowmass, Colorado, approximately 10 miles away. In contrast, the two chairs listed here are from Aspen Mountain, located in Aspen, Colorado. I have searched and cannot find any original ski chair lifts for sale from Aspen, other than the two listed here. So, if you are looking to own an authentic rare collectible from one of North America's finest ski mountains, this is it!
