Description
19.2mm, 2.7g, .90 SilverThis 1943 Silver Fiji Turtle Six Pence George VI Coin was minted in San Francisco.
Because of World War II, many of the mints of Europe could not produce and distribute coins for their distant colonies. This coin was struck at San Francisco instead of the British Royal Mint, so it bears the mint-mark "S" below the "year" in the date.
The coin is circulated and made of silver, with a composition of 90% silver and 10% copper. It features a turtle on the reverse, which is a symbol of good luck in Fiji.
